Seitan stew

This seitan stew is the vegetarian alternative for stew with meat in it. It can be used in any dish that prescribes stew. You can adjust the recipe to your liking by varying with the ingredients, but this version tastes exceptionally well with fries and some raw vegetables (such as salad, carrots, tomatoes,...).

4 persons.

  • 2 trays of Maya Seitan Fritty Spicy
  • 1 onion - sliced in half circles
  • 1 teaspoon of tomato concentrate
  • 1 clove of garlic - chopped
  • One dash of olive oil
  • 50 - 100 ml soy sauce
  • Half a teaspoon of miso (optional)
  • Some lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon of dried herbes de provence
  • 1 spoon of fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, oregano and sage)

Simmer the onion. Add the garlic and the tomato concentrate amd let it simmer some more.

Add the seitan fritties and the soy sauce and add water until everything is submerged. Let it simmer on a small fire in order for the sauce to bind. Stir frequently.

Now add the miso (optional), the zest of the lemon and the dried herbs. Leave everything to simmer for about 5 minutes.

Add the fresh herbs when everything is done. Stir once more and serve!
