Spelt seitan


Just like regular seitan, this is a very basic product. This seitan, made from spelt in stead of wheat, has a very high protein content, contains nearly no fat and contains absolutely no cholesterol. Maya's seitan is very soft and tender and can be used in a wide variery of dishes.

Spelt is a type of wheat that is very digestible. Just like wheat, it can easily be processed to seitan. The resulting seitan is more gritty and firm than regular seitan.

The protein content of spelt seitan might be lower than the protein content of the regular seitan, but the product is more easily digestible.

Spelt seitan is just as easy to prepare as regular seitan. In fact, anything you do with meat, you can do with seitan. When you buy seitan, it is already boiled and thus ready to be eaten. When you're preparing a dish loaded with vegetables, you do not have to worry when to add seitan: it never ever gets tough.

The most easy way to prepare seitan is to immerse it in flour, put it in a pan with some oil and eat it: no steak can ever get this tender.
